What are you letting yourself in for?

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is your coaching offer for?

It is for senior professionals who have potential to achieve higher goals.

As well as for Executive and Non-Executive Board members, it is suited to other Senior Leaders in strategic roles, and those looking to step up into a strategic position.

How will I know you are the right coach for me?

Prior to the first coaching session, we will have a virtual scoping conversation to see if my offer meets your needs.

There is no obligation or fee at this stage. If we go on to work together, it will be a mutual decision to do so.

How will we meet for coaching?

We will typically meet virtually for one-to-one confidential conversations.

You will join me remotely from your office, home or other location at a time of day or early evening that suits you.

Face-to-face meetings can be arranged on request.

How long is each coaching session?

1.5 to 2 hours.

Shorter or longer sessions can be agreed.

Coaching clients apply their learning and take forward actions they themselves have identified to gain maximum benefit between each coaching session.

How long is a coaching programme?

Typically, 6 sessions over 6 to 9 months, although programmes can be individually tailored.

What makes Executive Coaching different?

Coaching assumes that clients are able to generate their own solutions, with support, using discovery-based approaches and frameworks.

Consultants often diagnose problems to prescribe and sometimes implement solutions. My coaching is non-directive, so the purpose is not to give advice, like a mentor or consultant would.

Mentors offer guidance based on their own experience as an expert in your field. I do not need to be steeped in your own professional context, as my career insights and expertise mean I am a highly effective coach across multiple sectors.

Unlike some mentoring, Executive Coaching is a formal, contracted professional relationship.

Therapists are trained in clinical models to identify and resolve difficulties, which may be rooted in the past, to improve psychological functioning. Coaching is not a therapeutic tool and, whilst it may cover emotional well-being, it is future-focused on changes the client wishes to make.

Although I am a Physiotherapist by background, I am not a sports coach, who may focus on deficit in order to improve sporting performance. Coaching considers strengths - when these may be over-played and how they can be enhanced -as well as self-selected personal development goals.

How much does coaching cost?

As the coaching programme will be tailored to your needs, this will be confirmed in advance on an individual basis.

My fee reflects both the value of coaching and the market rate.

What is the benefit of coaching?

The value of coaching is the difference it can make to how a coaching client thinks, sees, acts and impacts on others.

Coaching clients identify their own goals from the coaching programme, for which they hold accountability, as they know themselves and their challenges best, and are the ones making the change.

We will explore your specific coaching objectives so that the coaching is targeted and tailored. We will consider your starting point in depth, review mid-way through the programme and formally evaluate the gains at the end.

Some shifts in mindset and behaviour take time to delve into, and embedding them sometimes extends beyond the end of the programme.
